Frequently Asked QuestionsGet PDF

Are you licensed?

Yes, we are licensed by the Public Utilities Commission. Our license number is CAL-T 190383.

Insured?

The California P.U.C. automatically insures your items at $.60 per pound per article, at no additional cost to you. Some customers may feel this is inadequate coverage for certain items.

GoPro offers two additional types of coverage for your items:

1. Actual Cash Value: insures your item(s) at their depreciated value.

2. Full Value: insures your item(s) at their full price (brand new).

When does the clock start on the day of our move?

The clock starts when the crew arrives at the starting location, not when we leave the shop.

What can I do to lower my moving costs?

Pack and organize. It sounds simple but you’d be surprised how fast moving day sneaks up on you. By packing all your small, loose items into sealed boxes you’re cutting down clutter. Believe it or not, the small stuff slows your moving team down more than anything else.

One way to help cut down on the clutter is to donate or sell any items that you haven’t used in a while or don’t need. Some quick ways to do this are the Craigslist.org free section, and charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army, Goodwill, etc.

Also packing up less used areas such as basements, attics and garages will speed up the loading process on move day. If you’re packed up or prepped before move day and you want to move some items yourself we recommend you focus on collectibles, pictures (small & med.) and plants.

Do you offer wardrobes for my hanging clothes?

Yes, Four (4) wardrobes will be brought for you to use free of charge. You may rent additional wardrobes for the day at $5.00 each if needed.

How do will the movers protect my furniture?

All furniture will be blanket and/or shrink wrapped during transportation.

Do we have to disassemble beds, desks, etc.?

Disassembling your own beds and furniture will save you time and money on your move, but all GoPro employees are well skilled in disassembly / reassembly.

Do you offer in-home estimates?

Yes, you can call or email to set up a free estimate with one of our field trained estimators. The best way to set up any estimate is to use our Easy Estimate page. From there you can quickly provide us with the main details of your move and we can setup a in-home estimate from there.

Are there any charges for drive time?

The drive time from your beginning location to the ending destination is doubled. This is standard in the moving industry, covering costs such as gas, truck maintenance and wages.

What kind of boxes should I use to pack my belongings?

While there are plenty of free boxes behind grocery stores, we recommend getting boxes that you can seal with tape on both sides and sticking to 3 or 4 different sizes. Keep heavy items like books, records, and files in the smaller boxes. Use the bigger boxes for packing linens, clothes, dishes and misc.

Do you just move furniture or can you pack too?

We do it all. Besides doing the heavy lifting we can come in and pack your entire house, as well as supply the packing materials.

What does the $0.60 per pound per item insurance mean?

This insurance is provided to you free of charge. This means all of your belongings are covered if lost, damaged, or stolen at $0.60 per pound. e.g. If you have a table that weighs 100 pounds and is damaged beyond repair, after submitting a claim you would reimbursed according to following formula: $0.60 x 100 lbs. = $60.00

Should I tip my movers?

Tips are always appreciated but never expected. If you feel satisfied with your moving crew $4.00 per hour per man is standard. If you want to give more it’s completely up to you. You can give the tip to each man separately or simply give it to the crew chief and let him divide it up evenly among the crew. Tips can be added to the bill and paid by check or credit card but cash is usually best.
